IMPACT STATEMENTS

      New Community Impact Statement Tool

For those of you who are not aware of it, the City Attorneys office has a new on-line tool to help residents submit impact statements on various "livability" crimes in their neighborhoods.

This is not an exhaustive list of all court cases, but it does cover most of the street level narcotics, prostitution, trespassing, and disorderly conduct types of cases. 140 cases currently found/shown listed in the 4th Precinct.

The site allows residents to let the prosecuting attorney know how the defendant’s actions have affected them and/or their quality of life.

These impact statements can then be presented in court and the judge can take them into consider at the time of sentencing just how the incident affects you.

In addition to this, you can click on a closed case and get the case’s disposition.

You can review convictions and sentencing; get the name of the prosecuting attorney and presiding judge; sort listing by case number, address or defendant to name some of the things possible for look up.

This is a very handy tool for following up on livability cases and getting your voice heard in the courts. Just use the above link and follow the instructions.
