19XX Hillside Ave Thursday 8/23/12 0055hrs 12-265757
MFD responded to a structural fire at this location, which is a 2-story duplex. Police spoke to a witness who stated she heard an argument before there was an explosion in the house & saw a man running from the scene after the explosion. There was heavy fire damage to the building on the 1st floor & a prevalent smell of gasoline on the 1st floor. There were multiple areas of origin for the fire & MFD determined the cause was Arson. Property damage was estimated at $45,000 for the house & content loss of $5000. Samples were taken from gas cans at the scene. No injuries.

Officers responded to a Burglary/Fight at the above location & observed V1/male, 34 yrs, lying on the stairs inside the apartment building. V1 stated AP1/ male, 34 yrs, started an argument in the hallway of the apt. building, punched V1, and then threw him over the railing from the 1st floor to the basement. V1 could have internal injuries & was transported to the hospital via ambulance. AP1 was arrested & booked in HCJ for PC Assault 3.

Officer responded to the hospital to interview a shooting victim & met with V2/male, 20 yrs, who was driving a truck that was hit by gunshots. V2 stated he was driving & V1/male, 23 yrs, was the front passenger. V2 stated a gray vehicle traveling in the same direction pulled up next to them & shot 7—10 times, hitting V1. V2 stated he’s not a gang member & does not have any suspect information. V1 was shot in the abdomen & stated he ducked most of the time, so he did not see who shot him. V1 also stated he was not a gang member. There was no exit hole, so the bullet is still in V1’s body. Victim’s truck had multiple bullet holes & a shattered rear window. The vehicle was towed & held for Forensics. No further info.

32XX Lowry Ave N Friday 8/24/12 0237hrs 12-267101
Officer responded to the hospital to take a report on V1/male, 47 yrs, the victim of a gunshot wound. Medical staff advised officer that V1 was shot twice in the back of the neck & the bullets were still in his neck. Wounds were non-life threatening. V1 had been dropped off in a vehicle that immediately left the area. Officer spoke with V1 & he stated his nephew, V2/male, 35 yrs, was driving them when an older style black sedan with a ragtop roof pulled up alongside them & he heard gunshots. V1 stated he ducked & told his nephew he had been shot. V2 drove V1 to the hospital. Officer eventually spoke to V2, who was not hit or injured in any way. V2 stated he heard 5 gunshots & both victims ducked down. V2 stated he was scared after dropping off V1 & that’s why he left the area to go back to Brooklyn Park. Neither victim could ID a shooter. The vehicle’s rear window was broken out & there was a bullet lodged near the passenger side rear tire well. Vehicle was towed & held for Forensics.

Officer was dispatched to the above area on the report of shots fired & Dispatch provided information on the whereabouts of a possible suspect. AP1/ male, 33 yrs, was located & apprehended. Officers learned that AP1 pointed a handgun at the head of V1/female, 17 yrs, & threatened to shoot her. After V1 ran for cover, AP1 fired shots in the air. V1 positively ID’d AP1 during a “show up” & AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Assault 2 & Felon in Possession of a Firearm. V1 was not injured.

Officer was dispatched to the hospital to meet the victim of an Assault. V1/male, 35 yrs, was uncooperative as he was getting stitches to 2 small cuts by his eye. V1 only provided the location of the incident. V1’s girlfriend was questioned in the hall & told officer she observed a female swing a broken bottle at V1 when he exited their car. There was a group of people in this area. No further suspect info.

23rd Ave N & Washington Ave N Friday 8/24/12 2315hrs 12-268119
Officers were dispatched to an Assault in progress & located V1/male, 30 yrs, who was DK & belligerent. V1 stated he pulled over in his vehicle, but couldn’t remember why. At this time, unknown S1/male, pulled up behind V1 & punched him in the face, causing lacerations on his cheek. V1 was belligerent with paramedics called to the scene & refused to go in an ambulance. No suspect information. Photos were taken of V1’s injuries.

Unknown S1/male, was seen by 2 male victims, 50’s, outside their personal vehicles at this biz location. S1 yelled “Stop-- I’ll shoot you” to V1. A witness went out to confront S1 & S1 said “I don’t want to shoot you” as he pointed what the witness thought was a rifle. S1 jumped a fence & fled the area on foot. Items were taken from V1 & V2’s vehicles, which were unlocked. No injuries.

Officers were dispatched to the report of an Assault. Officers met with V1/male, 28 yrs, who stated he was sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle when he observed known S1/male, 24 yrs, approach the vehicle, yell at V1 & strike him several times in the head with a metal pole. S1 then punched V1 in the head above his eye. S1 fled in a nearby truck. V1 went to a hospital in Fridley for treatment & required 2 sets of stitches near his eye. V1 also suffered a large bump & a lost tooth. S1 was not located.

Officer responded to a person with a gun call & was flagged down by V2/female, 22 yrs, who was standing with V1/female, 20 yrs. Victims reported that known S1/male, 20’s, threatened them both with a gun & shot at V2 as she attempted to leave the area in a vehicle. As V2 fled in the vehicle, S1 chased it on foot firing 5 shots at her. S1 then returned to threaten V1with the handgun & S1 eventually left the area on foot. No injuries. S1 was GOA.

18th Ave N & Irving Ave N Sunday 8/26/12 2108hrs 12-270251
Officers were dispatched to a Shooting in the above area & learned a vehicle drove to the hospital. Officers went to the hospital & located this vehicle which contained 3 males. All 3 males had blood on them. OT1/male, 17 yrs, the driver, stated that his brother was shot in the leg. OT2/male, 16 yrs, & OT3/male, age unknown, did not want to tell officers what happened. Officers spoke to V1/male, 20 yrs, inside the hospital. V1 stated he was by the park watching people fight when he saw a muzzle flash & took off running. V1 was struck in the leg. V1 did not see who fired the shot. Wound is non-life threatening.

Officers were dispatched to the hospital on a Stabbing report & met V1/female, 21 yrs, who stated she was walking somewhere on the north side when an unknown suspect stabbed her in the chest with an unknown weapon. V1 stated she did not see who assaulted her. V1 had a minor laceration on her collar bone, which was non-life threatening. No further information.

Hillside Ave & Ilion Ave Monday 8/27/12 2120hrs 12-271340
Officers responded to the above location on an Assault & observed V1/female, 51 yrs, bleeding from her arm, up by her elbow. The wound was severe. V1 & others were pointing down the street where officer observed AP1/ male, 31 yrs, being held down by a group of people. AP1 was brought to the squad in handcuffs & officers recovered the weapon, which was a sharp piece of concrete with jagged edges. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance & AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Assault 2.

Officer responded to the above location on a Robbery of Person. V1/female, 37 yrs, stated S1/male, 19-22 yrs, is known to her boyfriend & he knocked at her door. When V1 opened the door, S1 & 2 other unknown males entered & chatted. S1 had been in the apt. earlier when V1’s boyfriend handed V1 $320. After a few minutes, S1 grabbed a knife from the counter & told V1 to hand over the money, which she did. V1 stated she pleaded with the suspects not to take her money, to no avail. V1’s boyfriend was not home at the time. Suspects fled on foot. No injuries.

Officers were dispatched to a Robbery of Person at the above location & met V1/female, 18 yrs. V1 stated she was on the corner waiting for the bus when unknown S1/male, 18-23 yrs, approached & asked how old she was. V1 didn’t answer then walked away from S1. S1 followed V1 & continued asking questions. V1 returned to the bus stop & S1 punched her on the side of her face. S1 fled with V1’s wallet containing $15, & ID, as well as V1’s cell phone valued at $50. V1 refused medical & officers waited with V1 until her mother came & picked her up. S1 was GOA.

Officers were dispatched to a Robbery of Person & met V1/male, 29 yrs, in the rear of the address. V1 stated he just got home, parked, & got out of his truck when he was approached by 2 unknown males wearing hoodies. S1 had a handgun & pointed it at V1, demanding his money. V1 got his wallet out & S2 looked through V1’s vehicle. Nothing was taken from the vehicle, but suspects fled on foot with V1’s wallet, which contained an ATM card; ID; & $300 in cash. V1 was not injured.

Officers were dispatched to a Robbery of Person at gunpoint & met V1/female, 31 yrs, who stated she was leaving a family member’s house & was talking on the phone as she walked to her car. V1 stated she walked back up to the porch at this location to continue her call & was approached by 2 unknown males, 17-19 yrs, who asked for a light. S1 pulled out a handgun & demanded V1’s gold-colored chain & her purse. V1 gave suspects the items. S1 demanded V1 turn around & face the house as the suspects fled on foot. The chain is valued at $100. No cash in the purse. V1 was not
injured & officers searched for the suspects without success.

3XX Broadway Ave W Friday 8/24/12 2351hrs 12-268167
Officers were dispatched on the report of a Carjacking & met V1/male, 30 yrs, & V2/female, 25 yrs, who stated they were sitting in the parking lot at this location when 4 unknown males, 18-30 yrs, got out of a red Ford Expedition that blocked their car in the lot & approached their vehicle. All 4 males had guns in their hands. S1 demanded that V1 get out of the car. V1 & V2 both left their phones in the vehicle when they were told to get out. Suspects stole V1’s vehicle. Victims were not injured. Vehicle was not located.

Police spoke with V1/male, 23 yrs, who stated he was robbed by 3 unknown males in a vehicle. V1 stated he was walking in the area when a vehicle pulled alongside the curb & the front seat passenger asked for a light. When V1 approached the vehicle, he was grabbed & held while another passenger got out & went through his pockets, taking his wallet. V1 stated both males were armed with handguns. V1 stated one of the suspects removed $240 in cash from the wallet & threw the wallet on the ground. Suspects fled in their vehicle. V1 was not injured.

V1/male 26 yrs, & V2/male, 28 yrs, were waiting for a bus in the above area when they were approached by unknown S1 & S2, males, 18-22 yrs. S1 asked to use a cell phone, then produced an automatic handgun & demanded V1’s phone. Suspects walked to an area where a small black Mazda picked them up & drove off. Victims were not injured. The T-Mobile phone can be tracked.

Officers were dispatched to 51st & Logan Ave N regarding a red sport utility vehicle driving on the bike path in the park. RP1/male, 51 yrs, stated his wife, V1/female, 46 yrs, was walking down the path when her cell phone was taken by unknown S1/male, 12-14 yrs. There was a language barrier & it was difficult to get information from V1. V1 told RP1 that she was robbed by S1 who grabbed the phone from her hand. S1 entangled his finger in V1’s earring & V1’s ear tore before the earring clasp broke. V1 refused medical attention. S1 was GOA. The cell phone is valued at $250.

Officers responded to a bike theft at Folwell Park & met V1. It was determined this was a Robbery of Person & not a theft. V1/male, 15 yrs, stated he & V2/male, 15 yrs, & other friends arrived at the park on bicycles. 4 males, 15-17 yrs, approached the victims & S1 demanded their bikes. V1 said “No” & S1 pushed V1 & a physical altercation began. S1 stated he would “get” V1 & put his hand in the pocket of his shorts. V1 feared S1 had a weapon & gave up the fight. V2 let S2 take the bike he was riding. Suspects left in an unknown direction. V1 named S1, but did not know any of the other suspects.

V1/female, 34 yrs, stated she was sitting in her vehicle at the above location waiting for a friend, when unknown S1/male, 18-20 yrs, opened the car door & put a gun in her face. S1 demanded V1’s money & cell phone. V1 cooperated & the loss included her wallet; 2 debit cards; ID; & her cell phone valued at $150. V1 was so frightened she drove directly to the Precinct to make the report. V1 was not injured.

V1/female, 21 yrs, stated she was at the bus stop at the above location & had her purse on her shoulder. S1/male, 15-17 yrs, approached & asked to use V1’s cell phone. V1 said “No” & S1 grabbed V1’s purse & ran off with it. S1 stopped in front of 39XX Girard Ave N & dumped the contents of the purse on the ground. V1 recovered the contents except for her wallet containing ID; bank cards; & $2 in cash. V1’s cell phone was also taken. V1 was not injured. S1 was GOA.

Officers conducted a High Risk warrant at the above location. Information was there was a male inside that had an assault-type rifle & was offering to sell it. Also, it was learned there were 3 adult aggressive pit bulls on the premise. It was determined that officers would deploy a flash sound distraction device & officers had to force open the front door. Officer checked for the flash sound distraction device that skidded across the floor & rolled under a couch to prevent the possibility of fire. Officer found a loaded AK-47 style assault rifle under the couch. S1/male, 27 yrs, was called to the residence, but did not show up after stating he would. No arrests.

Knox Ave N & Lowry Ave N Monday 8/27/12 2306hrs 12-271439
Officers observed a male riding a BMX bike without any lights on when it was dark. Officers stopped to speak to this male/AP1, 20 yrs, who kept reaching down toward a cargo pocket on the side of his pants. AP1 was immediately told to put his hands on the squad car & was asked if he had any Weapons on him. AP1 told officers he had a .22 on him & that it was in his pocket. The gun was recovered & AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.
